Understanding Branches

Branches are at the heart of how Rool organizes your business. Whether you manage franchise locations, regional offices, retail stores, or club chapters, each one is represented as a branch in Rool.

Tip: Your organization may use a different word instead of "branch" -- such as "Location," "Club," or "Store." Your admin can customize this terminology, so the labels you see may differ from the ones in this guide. The functionality is the same regardless of the name.

How Rool is structured

Rool uses a three-level hierarchy to keep everything organized:

  1. Organization -- Your company or agency. This is the top level that holds everything together.

  2. Branches -- The individual locations, franchises, or business units within your organization. Each branch has its own settings, team members, and content.

  3. Social Profiles -- The Facebook and Instagram accounts connected to each branch. A single branch can have multiple social profiles linked to it.

Think of it like a tree: your organization is the trunk, branches are (aptly) the branches, and social profiles are the leaves.

What you'll find on a branch

Each branch in Rool tracks several key pieces of information:

  • Name -- The display name for the branch (e.g., "Downtown Seattle" or "Chicago Flagship").

  • Location -- An optional address or area description so your team knows where this branch operates.

  • Timezone -- The local timezone for the branch, which affects post scheduling.

  • Status -- Every branch is marked as Active, Inactive, or Archived. Only active branches are fully operational.

  • Tags -- Color-coded labels that help you group and filter branches (e.g., "West Coast," "Premium," "New").

  • Requires Approval -- Some branches require posts to be approved before publishing. You'll see a "Requires Approval" badge on these branches.

The Branches list page

To see all of your branches, open the Branches page from the sidebar. You'll see a grid of cards, one for each branch.

From here you can:

  • Search by branch name or location using the search bar at the top.

  • Filter by status using the status dropdown (All, Active, Inactive, or Archived).

  • Filter by tags to narrow down to a specific group of branches. When you select multiple tags, you can choose whether to show branches that match any of the selected tags or all of them.

  • Create a new branch by clicking the Add Branch button (visible to Admins and Editors only).

Click any branch card to open its detail page.

The branch detail page

When you open a branch, you'll see a detail page with three tabs:

Overview

The Overview tab shows:

  • Branch Information -- The location, timezone, and any tags assigned to this branch.

  • Team Members -- The users assigned to manage this branch. Admins and Editors can add new team members directly from this section by clicking Add Team Member.

  • Social Connections -- The Facebook and Instagram profiles linked to this branch. This is where you connect or manage social accounts for publishing.

Library

The Library tab is your branch's media hub. Here you can:

  • Upload images and videos.

  • Organize assets into folders.

  • Browse both branch-level and organization-level assets (org-level assets are marked with an "Org" badge).

Posts

The Posts tab shows all posts that target this branch. You can filter posts by status -- Draft, Pending Approval, Changes Requested, Approved, Scheduled, Published, or Rejected -- and click any post to view its full details.

The branch switcher

You don't always need to navigate to the Branches page to focus on a specific branch. The Branch Switcher in the app toolbar lets you quickly select a branch to filter your view across the entire app.

  • Click the branch switcher dropdown and choose a branch to see only that branch's content.

  • Select All Branches to return to the unfiltered view.

  • When a branch is selected, you'll see a "Viewing: [Branch Name]" indicator so you always know which branch you're focused on.

Who can see which branches?

Your visibility into branches depends on your role:

  • Admins and Editors can see all branches in the organization.

  • Members can only see branches they've been specifically assigned to.

If you're a Member and don't see a branch you expect, ask your Admin to assign you to it.
