There are two ways to get started with Rool: you can create a brand-new account on your own, or you can join an existing organization by accepting a team invitation. This article walks you through both paths.
Creating a New Account
If you are setting up Rool for your organization for the first time, or if you have not received an invitation from a teammate, follow these steps to create a new account.
Go to the sign-up page. Navigate to the Rool sign-up page from the main website or by visiting the sign-up URL directly.
Enter your full name. This is the name your teammates will see throughout Rool.
Enter your email address. Use the email address you want associated with your Rool account. This is also the address where you will receive your sign-in links.
Click "Send sign-in link." Rool uses magic links instead of passwords, so there is no password to create or remember.
Check your email. You will receive an email with a secure sign-in link. Click the link to complete your account creation and sign in to Rool.
Tip: If you do not see the email in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder. You can also return to the sign-up page and try again.
After signing in for the first time, you will be guided through the onboarding process to set up your organization. See the next article in this series for details on onboarding.
Accepting a Team Invitation
If a teammate has already set up your organization in Rool, they can invite you to join. Here is what to expect when you receive an invitation.
Open the invitation link. Your teammate will send you an email or share a link to join their organization. Click the link to open it.
You will see the invitation details. The page will show you the name of the organization you have been invited to and the role you have been assigned (for example, Member or Admin).
Sign in or create an account. If you already have a Rool account, click Sign In and use your email to receive a sign-in link. If you are new to Rool, click Create Account to set up your account first.
Your invitation is accepted automatically. Once you are signed in, the invitation is accepted and you will be taken directly to the organization you were invited to. No extra steps required.
What if my invitation link does not work?
Expired invitation: Invitation links expire after a set period. If your link has expired, ask your teammate to send a new one.
Already accepted: If you have already accepted the invitation, you can simply sign in to Rool and access the organization from your dashboard.
Revoked invitation: If the invitation was revoked by an admin, you will see a message letting you know. Reach out to your team admin to request a new invitation.
Signing In to an Existing Account
Once your account is created, signing in is straightforward.
Go to the sign-in page. Navigate to the Rool sign-in page.
Enter your email address. Use the same email you signed up with.
Click "Send sign-in link." You will receive an email with a secure link.
Click the link in your email. You will be signed in and taken to your dashboard.
Tip: Rool uses magic links for sign-in, which means you never need to remember a password. Each time you want to sign in, you simply request a new link via email.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use any email address to create an account? Yes. You can use any valid email address. If you have been invited to an organization, it is best to use the email address where you received the invitation so that Rool can match you to your invitation automatically.
What is a magic link? A magic link is a secure, one-time-use link sent to your email that signs you in without needing a password. Each link is unique to you and expires after use.
Can I belong to more than one organization? Yes. If you are invited to multiple organizations, they will all be accessible from your account. You can switch between organizations from within the app.
I did not receive the sign-in email. What should I do? First, check your spam or junk folder. If the email still has not arrived after a few minutes, return to the sign-in or sign-up page and click "try again" to request a new link.
